Learning that a loved one is dying and that you will now need to take care of them can be both daunting and intimidating. Just as their life journey has dramatically changed course with the diagnosis, so has yours.

What do you need to know to better prepare for this crucial role? How will this impact your life and well being? What new responsibilities will you take on? How do you find balance for your energy and health while supporting someone with a terminal illness? If you have never experienced death or companioned someone to end of life, how can you become better informed as to the supports available? How will this change the family dynamic?

The caregiver role is both demanding and yet profound. At times as challenging as parenting a dependent, vulnerable child with a range of needs. And yet in many ways it can be life transforming for those who embrace this invitation to care.

In this workshop a range of practical and deeply human needs will be explored that are a normal part of the experience.

We will touch on the unique dynamics and different grieving styles that can be seen within a family and how to better traverse them.

We will discuss how to look after yourself, the importance of asking for help, along with clear encouragement to remember that your health and well being are just as important during this time. Also, the importance of seeking grief support after the death.

Insight: At the end of this workshop you will have a greater awareness of the demands on those who care for someone with a terminal illness, how to better prepare, and supports to think about getting in place to help you in this role.   You will learn how to support a dying loved one while cherishing the time you have left to share with them. You will be reminded of the gift of your own life and health and that you should not lose sight that the care you extend to others should also be extended to yourself during this tender yet demanding time.

• This is a live online two-hour workshop and, out of respect for your privacy, will not be recorded.
• You will be sent a Zoom link prior to the event.
• Participants will receive a resource list for reading and added exploration after the workshop.
