The Ministry of Health’s “Setting Priorities for the BC Health System” and related policy papers identify strategic and operational priorities for the delivery and improvement of health care services in BC. Among these priorities is a push to re-commit to patient centred Home and Community Care. As a result there is an impetus for establishing a cohesive direction for Home Health strategy.
Accelerating Best Practices in BC Home and Community Health will propose strategic direction and key actions in order to support ongoing improvements to policy, delivery of high-quality care, and the achievement of priority goals set out in BC Ministry of Health policy papers. This project will result in a roadmap towards reaching best practices in Home and Community Health.
The project includes literary research, expert consultation, and engagement efforts with Home and Community Health stakeholders. These research activities endeavour to determine the different perspectives regarding the current state of Home Care in BC, identify the problem areas, and isolate which best practices offer solutions for improvement. Literary research will ensure recommendations are couched in strong, evidence based solutions.
This will enable the creation of a BC Home and Community Health Road Map that is dependable, innovative, current and complete.
As a part of the project’s engagement efforts IHSTS is offering an exciting workshop for home care leaders. Find out more about the workshop here.
